Emergency Radio Procedures
An effective distress call can mean the difference between life and death, but rescue agencies are frequently rendered helpless by inadequate distress calls, or distress calls that are never made. Emergency Radio Procedures is a concise training tool designed to equip seamen and boaters with the knowledge it takes to react effectively in a crisis. The program simulates both ends of the distress communication-the skipper's Mayday and the Coast Guard response. Shot on location on Puget Sound and at the U.S. Coast Guard's Seattle Operations Center, the program demonstrates how to properly utilize radio communications equipment in an emergency.
